Student Council: JRMS student government is elected every year. The President (8th grader), Vice President

(6-8th grader ), Secretary (5th - 8th grader), and Treasurer (5th - 8th grader) are the

group that makes up the student council executive board. This group is typically

elected on or near election day in a November school wide election. This year’s election will take place in March. The election includes a school wide campaign with virtual speeches shared in social studies classes, political “stumping” at the various lunch waves and wonderful posters made by the candidates. It is a difficult

process, but it is a difficult job as they will run every aspect of the student government.  In addition to the executive board, any student interested in participating in student council is invited to attend meetings as a representative of the student body. Bi-Monthly meetings will be hosted in room 174.

Student Leaders: Formerly Wingman (Name TBD):  Selected 8th grade students will work to bring activities to help connect all students in and out of school.  They will focus on creating a school that is fun , engaging and inclusive.  Activities might include recognizing students throughout the building for going above and beyond, celebrating birthdays and organizing student-led social emotional learning activities.

Yearbook: Open to 8th graders only. Members will work with teachers on every facet of the yearbook (Photography, layout, photo coordination, publicity, communications, and sales). Yearbook meets before school at 8:25 in room 137 or on zoom.
