Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year!

Dear JRMS Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year at John Read Middle School!

Whether your child is returning to JRMS or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled you are part of our school community. We hope your family had the opportunity to enjoy a restful, fun-filled summer, and we look forward to the year ahead.

As I begin my first year as JRMS principal, I want to express how honored I am to join the John Read Middle School community. Over the past several weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet many students, staff members, families, and community members. One thing has become abundantly clear—JRMS is a special place. It is a school built on strong relationships, dedicated educators, supportive families, and a community that cares deeply about its children. I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received and excited to begin this journey together.

I believe strong schools are built on strong relationships. Those relationships begin with our students, but they also extend to our families, our staff, and the entire school community. When schools and families work together with trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to students, children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

At JRMS, we are committed to providing every student with a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where they feel connected, valued, challenged, and supported as they discover their strengths and achieve personal success. School safety remains one of our highest priorities—not only through thoughtful planning and well-practiced procedures, but by fostering a culture where every student feels a true sense of belonging.

As we begin this school year, I hope you know that your partnership matters. I value open communication and believe the strongest schools are built through trusting relationships and respectful dialogue. I welcome your questions, perspectives, and ideas, and I am committed to listening carefully as we continue strengthening JRMS together. While we may not always agree on every decision, I hope every family knows their voice will be heard and considered with care, always keeping the best interests of our students and our school community at the center of our decisions.

One of the many strengths of JRMS is the partnership that exists between home and school. I encourage you to stay connected, participate in school events, celebrate your child's successes, and communicate with us throughout the year. Together, we can continue building upon the strong foundation already in place while creating new opportunities for every student to learn, grow, contribute, and experience personal success.

Middle school is an exciting time filled with growth, discovery, challenges, and unforgettable memories. We look forward to celebrating those moments with you throughout the year and working together to ensure every student has an exceptional middle school experience.

We are honored to partner with you in your child's education and look forward to a wonderful year together. Thank you for the trust you place in us each day.
