JRMS Summer Reading Program
🌞 JRMS Summer Reading 🌞
Our goal for summer reading is to instill a love of reading for pleasure, to foster community building and empathy, and to help create connections for all students.
Summer reading is encouraged at all of our Easton/Redding schools because it helps students maintain and strengthen their reading skills while fostering a love of reading. While it is not mandatory, spending time reading over the summer can help students start the new school year feeling confident and prepared. Therefore, we’re encouraging all students at JRMS to read at least three books of their choice. There are no required titles because we believe that students are more motivated when they choose books that interest them!

For Teens (Grades 5-12): Sign up for summer reading, then collect your “scratchie” at the MTL front desk. This ticket will be an instant winner or an entry into the grand prize raffle. Extra entries can be earned for the grand prize raffle by attending teen programs. Also, each book you enter will earn you 1 point, and each point earned is an entry into the weekly drawing. There will be fun prizes and lots of ways to win – let’s get reading! Visit their WEBSITE for more information.

Families: We encourage you to discuss summer reading choices with your child and help them select a book that is a good fit. Parents are best positioned to review resources to decide if a book’s content and reading level are appropriate for their child. The Mark Twain Library is a valuable resource to utilize for suggested book lists by grade level/ genre.
