8th Grade Trip to Boston - Spring

Dear 8th grade families,

We are excited to announce that John Read Middle School will be offering an overnight field trip to Boston, Massachusetts, this spring! This enriching experience will provide students with opportunities to immerse themselves in history, science, and culture while exploring one of America’s most historically significant cities.

Trip Dates: May 28–29, 2026

Trip Overview:

Students will travel by coach bus transportation and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Boston/Waltham. Security will be on duty overnight, and breakfast will be provided at the hotel on Friday morning. A professional Tour Director will accompany our group.

Activities & Experiences:

Students will take part in a full itinerary designed to connect their learning to real-world history and science. Planned activities include:

  • Visit to the Museum of Science (Students will bring their own lunch.)

  • Boston Tea Party Museum Experience

  • Dinner at Fire and Ice

  • Visit to the View Boston Observation Tower

  • Freedom Trail Walk with a costumed historical guide

  • Free time at Quincy Market with a provided lunch voucher

  • Visit to the New England Aquarium

Trip Cost: Approx. $550 per student

Payment Schedule:

  • $100 Deposit Due: January 15, 2026 
    (checks made payable to the JRMS Activity Fund)

We are requesting checks in case we do not receive enough participants and need to refund deposits to families.

  • Remaining balance due April 2026 
    (exact date to follow)

We believe this trip will be an unforgettable learning experience that supports our curriculum while fostering independence, collaboration, and real-world understanding.
